What do I do about my smoking habit?

Me Asked by cmsmustang64 about 1 year ago, 13 answers.

I'm 14 and I smoke cigs and weed. Am I harming myself by smoking? I can't stop and I'm afraid my parents may find out one day. Please give me advice. I am desperate and afraid.

Hi,

Yes smoking is very very harmful for your body. You should force yourself to quit, so that you can stop the harm before it even begins, and then you can relax about your parents finding out. Smoking hurts your whole body. It causes lung conditions and wrinkles. Marijuana smoke can decrease sperm production and fertility. It also can impair erections.
Yuck!

y would you ever start HELLO if your worried about that now well to late because you must not care if your parents find out because you asked people on a website and your pic is on this site, so now all the people that read this know you do drugs.

Trying to break an addictive habit is difficult. However, because of the health implications from tabacco use and drug use, it's very important that you begin the process of quitting smoking cigarettes and marijuana. The best move you made is admitting to yourself that there is a problem and that you're willing to take steps to quit. But you may not be able to do this by yourself. If you can't tell your parents because you fear punishment, maybe you should find an adult (like a counselor, teacher, pastor, priest, uncle, or aunt) to open up to. But I really feel that you should tell your parents to build trust with them. Of course they'll be upset, that's something you can't avoid. But get help...that's the most important. Peace and good luck.

I started smoking cigarettes when I was 12 and stopped at 14. It wasn't hard for me to stop since I wasn't really addicted to nicotine yet. The time to stop smoking cigarettes is now; the longer you wait the harder it will be.

Greetings,
Yes smoking and weed is indeed EXTREMELY harmful. You must tell your parents, so they can help you quite, if they find out that you've been smoking without you telling them, that's when they will be mad, but if you tell them before they find out, they will try to help rather then go crazy.

At some point it will be obvious that your smoking. You MUST quite, you still have time to improve your life. Once, you quite smoking, FOLOW THESE STEPS!
1. Face the problem, don't try to avoid it.
-This means, obviously there is a problem, so you need to go to a phsychologist.
2. Believe in yourself.
-You can alwas improve your life, it's never too late to start.
3.Get a religion.
-A religion that you pick should match your values, and believe that God will help you, if you in return try to fix the problem.
-------
These drugs that you are taking WILL KILL YOU! And stoping them or not is not an option.
The longer you wait, the harder it is to stop

If you can't stop on your own, the only way to deal with drug addiction is to get profession treatment.

you better hope that you parents don't browse through here and see your picture and question. Just ask your self questions like, do you want to get your tongue cut out because of cancer, do you really want to be on a machine for the rest of your life, do you really want to die at an early age and did my parents raise me this way, or would Jesus do this?

The cigarette smoking isn't half as bad as the pot smoking. If you seriousley feel addicted to it, you need to find a way to quit. Tell a trusted adult who you feel won't judge you, and ask them to help you. Chances are they will think you're being very mature by asking for help. If you can't bring yourself to do that, then ask a school counselor for help. Legally, they don't have to tell your parents unless you say that you're going to harm yourself or other people. But please reach out and get help, if you can't stop smoking the cigarettes, then for God's sake, stop the pot. You'll thank yourself for it in the long run.

Yes you are harming your self by smoking and smoking weed.
You are not even done growing , both weed and smoking will play a part in that.
Weed causes brain damage and smoking causes cancer . you probably don't want something to go bad because of weed or smoking. your not done even growing in to a women yet.
weed will cause brain damage and every time you use it it will kill off a little more each time and you will never be your self again even after you quit once you kill brain cells they never grow back. Remember that every time you use weed your slowly killing brain cells

Cigs yes, Pot no. Everytime you smoke a cig, your actually smoking embalming fluid and a lot of other chemicals. (I know b/c my uncle makes cigs), Pot is a natural plant... yeh tobacco is too, and tobacco really isn't harmful. It's the filters that make it harmful. Anyways, have a great day.

cigarettes are more harmful than weed

lol dont listen to what people tell u, its all misleading information
you need to do your own research and see for urself

These are some of the comments I have copied from a forum

-pharmaceuticals are known to kill more people than illegal drugs

-marijuana is the number 1 cash crop in the world
it serves as a natural medicine and has many other uses
thats why they prohibited it so big companies can make more profit
thanks to "bad journalism"

-can also help aids patients, aids diminishes appetite
have them smoke a joint and they regain their appetite counteracting the illness

-no one can die from smoking cannabis and has been no known deaths compared to everything else including alcohol, tobacco, etc..

I myself have asthma and smoking opens up my airways making it easier to breathe with no side effects
when medically legalized in my state I look foward to becoming a patient for prescription marijuana. 12 states have already legalized it along with other countries in the world and more following
my job is to educate people that are not aware of the plants uses

re-legalize!

-I did most of my research through websites, books, magazines, and the news
norml.org
high times magazine
etc..

- theres more to it than just getting high
and I believe legalizing it would make this a better world to live in

-God bless the whole crop!

- and for people that dont smoke, you dont need to smoke it to support it

-all the better reason for the government to legalize..
couple reasons why it should be legalized:
-will be removed from black market and stop empowering gang members
-medical reasons
-would be sold like alcohol, remember alcohol was once prohibited too (in stores away from children, have to be 21+)
-would be a law that you cant drive while intoxicated on weed
-prison population would lower (prisons are overcrowding with nonviolent offenders)
-keep patients from being convicted
-would provide millions of jobs for people
-would make us an independent country (fuel, etc.., debt free america)

people with an addiction (including hard drugs) shouldnt be thrown in jail, they need help
theres more people in jail with mental illnesses than there are in mental institutions

the list goes on

- the War on Drugs is a failure, its a war on its own people. policies need to be changed
we pay billions in taxpayers money to keep the war going and neither side is winning
thats just a waste of our tax money
I wonder what they do with all that money..
those greedy bastards just sell drugs back onto the street, you can even check urself on that
there was a time when there was a cia operation transporting drugs overseas into america
the government also provided Rick Ross with plenty of heroin to go around, course making money from it

the truth must be exposed, theyre dirty work must stop!

-Of course we can do something about it, we all just need to unite
screw the federal government
remember slavery?
if no one stood up im pretty sure it would still be going on
people were tortured, beaten, killed and thrown in jail but that didnt stop them standing up for their rights
eventually slavery was abolished
same with alcohol prohibition
eventually became re-legalized

- its like theres some kind of conspiracy going on
I sense the government is up to no good and trying to control us.
credit cards, money, and now they have chips that can be implanted in skin for uselful reasons but if in the wrong hands well were pretty much fuct
they hiding the truth from us
its dangerous to be right when the government is wrong
they got theyre privacy but we dont. they want to know everything were doing on our leisure time

get up stand up!

- marijuanas not anti-establishment because its illegal, its illegal because its anti-establishment

all facts stated have been double-checked and confirmed
