Sleeping more?

hj Asked by evalynn 2 months ago, 8 answers.

Lately I've been falling asleep at like 9pm and waking up at 6am on school days and 11am on weekends. But until recently I was a total night owl staying up until 2am on school nights and 4am on weekends., but now I'm really tired at the end of the day,...

and just want to sleep. I'm also eating way more. Am I becoming unhealthy? I'm 14. Could I just be going through a growth spurt or something?

yeah okay, she's not asking if staying up late is heal;thy she's saying that all of the sudden she's sleeping a lot more and is eating a lot. hellooo! it's either her period or she's pregnant...

I'm saying I went from getting 4 hours of sleep to needing around ten. How is that normal? And it's not just my period because I'm not on it.
I've also gained about three pounds, but I don't think I look any fatter.

get a pregnancy test...like asap
you can get one (better get the pack of two) from the drug store. I like EPT, pregnancy tests are usually from 10-20$. not that hard to get but you're also 14 so if anything, grab a friend and get your butt to Planned Parenthood. they do free tests.
I'm pretty sure you're pregnant. unless you didn't have sex...and condoms are not 100% either.
but either way, it's not normal.
but the food and the 10 hours of sleep...the sleep could be mono but you wouldn't be hungry like that. you'd just be tired. it could also be depression but you damn well know when you're so depressed you just don't have the strength for anything. let me know how it goes. I realllyyy hope you're not though!

You may be DIABETIC! When my friend was the same age all she wanted to do was sleep, eat, and drank a lot of juice and water. She gained weight but never felt any better. Considering you never mentioned thoughts of you being pregnant you may be diabetic. Go to your doctor asap especially if you have a family member who is diabetic.

that is true too...I forgot about diabeties. if you can't get to a doctor right away (I know it might be embarassing sometimes when you tell your parents you want to go and they're like WHY...and if you tell them they go..umm...you're just tired...) I almost died like that because my mom thought I had the FLU when I couldn't walk and talk and was delirious...tured out I had meningitis. anyways...go to WebMD and do the symptom checker.

I think its as simple as you have hit puberty - you're only 13 and you didn't need much sleep until recently. Apparently teenagers need the most sleep of all ages group. I wouldn't worry about the more sleep - it was the 4 hours that were abnormal and not healthy.

Maybe you are just getting more mature and giving in now to when you are really tired and not trying to stay awake for the hell of it.

I go to sleep about 8:30pm each night and wake about 5:30am and am as fit, healthy and attarctive and happy as anyone - if not more happy and healthy! Lap it up and do something with the extra energy!
