Whenever you want, its all up to you.
I don't know why you would feel weird when you turn 18-years-old, if you are serious about skateboarding and you really like it I think you should keep doing it. Look at Tony Hawk, hes 40-years-old and is the skateboarding icon of the world. Don't give up on something just because you are getting older, you cant let age get in the way of things like that when you are still physically able to do it. Look at all the professional skateboarders out there, a lot of them are much older than 18.
As a former skateboarder I will tell you this.
To become a pro skateboarder your going to have to take your skating to the NEXT level.
that means you have to skateboard every single day its your "job" and you have to learn new tricks all the time there are bunches to be learned. 360 flips, kickflips, heelflips, hardflips, big spins and so on and so forth.
But be aware of what I am also going to tell you is that you are only a "Human" being like myself which means you are not invincible. That basically means you need to be extremly careful on your body when you skate that means if you screw up and mess something up in your body it could really effect your skateboarding career.
I'll tell you this I twisted my right ankle so so so bad, I wound up tearing some legiments and tendons in my ankle. And my right ankle has never been the same since I cannot double-kickflip anymore like I use to, I cant even hardly land kickflips anymore because of that injury.
Dont feel bad if you do not want to take skating seriously anymore, because once you get older your going to have to spend more time working and finding a good job. Unless you want to sacrifice it all for skateboarding which some proffesional-skaters have done.
But if you want to take skating as a career path your going to have to have some really big balls. That means your going to have to be willing to break some bones. And be a really bad dare-devil. That means when you see a 20 set-of-stairs at your highschool you are going to go big on it and do some crazy flips over it and get some footage.
Goodluck bro
Im 19 now I used to skateboard, and well I just grew out of it over time there was no specific time or date, even now though I get bored and jump on it to see what I still have inside and for some good memories, just let it come to you and dont plan it, unless you want to go pro then follow metalheaddude's advice!
why would you want to stop?
look...if you love doing it, then keep doing it.
thats what skatings all about, do it because you love it, and its fun.
theres no age when to stop. thats your decision
im 18...I skate ...and ill be skating well on past my 60's even.
I love skateboarding, it keeps me happy.
and if it keeps you happy, then dont quit
