Sims 2 vista problems

I've tried to install the sims 2 loads of times but everytime I install it it makes it all crash and I have to set up my laptop all again, I lost the game but im getting another in a few days but im a bit concerned it will happenagain

You say you have Vista? I had the exact same problem. Oddly enough, one day I just tried it again and it worked. Vista has a zillion senseless issues, so it may never work. Or it may work perfectly for no reason. Sorry I'm really no help.
