How to fix this sims 2 installation error?

I'm having problems to install Sims 2. When it gets to 17% the installation stops and says:

"A problem occurred when trying to transfer the file 'TSDATA\Res\Sound\Voices.package' from the media.

What can I do to fix this?

By the way, I have Windows...

I had Windows XP before and it worked.

The Sims 2 is compatible with Windows Vista.
It says so on the website but it says nothing about how to fix this problem.

I am having the same problem on my seasons it stops at 46% and it tells me 'A problem occurred when trying to transfer the'TSDATA\Res\Sound\Voice1.package' from the media...I dont know what to do either lol

I really wish someone could tell me what to do!

I spent $40 of MY money on the game and now I can't play it!

I had the same problems, It was a flaw or a scratch on the CD, so I cleaned the disk with a cleaner I purchased from Wal-Mart, and it fixed the problem. Hope that can help.

Yup. I had the same problem, the same ad dark angel, it said TSDATA\Res\Sound\Voice1 too

but I uninstalled it about last year and im trying to re- install it but it keeps coming up with this problem.

Please help if you know anything I can try to fix this.

and I've tried installing it about a million times the same thing happens

Well im kinda having the same problem but mine game installs. you see my game won't let me into the sims 2 body shop. and its say "Direct 3D returned an error: D3DERR_ INVALIDCALL! The application will now terminate..." yahhh and I have window vista too!! I tried like everything!!! I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it 3 times!!! nothin is workin!!

Damn I never knew how many people had this problem! I have it aswell.. I'm trying to figure out why. I know that if you install the Sims Superstar before Sims Unleashed.. you will have problems when you go to install Unleashed.. that's why I'm having problems. I read it in the handbook after I did this. So I'm still trying to get one of them to install! Such a pain! Good luck to everyone.. If I figure anything out I'll let ya know.

here are the answers I've discovered from searching round

save it to a mp3 or ipod whilst plugged into the computer..

uninstall any virtual drives on your computer like Nero Alchahol 100% and Dameon.

im trying the mp3 one atm so yeah

its nothing to do with the disc.
everyone has this problem and mainly its all random items that cant be copied.
