Should there be a respectable dress code for women at church?

I do because they are then going into a church where these men are trying to reent for committing adultry and here you have these other women who are making it impossible when they go to church looking like they should be going to wild parties.I'm...

attractive but who cares?It's only for my husband, I wear respectable clothing and act appropriatley.My husband has never been one to look at another girl because he tells everyone I'm enough.I realize that not ALL guys but some will do It. It still buggs me really bad when girls do ths to men who are trying to be forgiven.What are your views?Please only MATURE people answer this.

I do believe in respectable clothes at all houses of worship, but simply because you are in a place of worship and you respect it. You realize your argument is one a lot of conservative muslim (and some christian) groups use to keep their women covered from head to toe? It's like saying it is the woman's fault for looking the way she does. If a man cannot control his thoughts or actions dont blame the woman. He should have more control over himself.

I don't think there should be a dress code! BUT I think as long as you look nice then that should be ok. If the church that I go to told me what I have to wear to worship god every sunday, well then I wouldn't go because I don't think that is right. I usually wear kaki pants or jeans and a really nice shirt. What if some people can't afford super nice clothes and can only wear the things they have?

ok again, I think a house of worship deserves respect...
however, you're still going down a slippery slope... what's to say, well women shouldnt wear anything sexy at any time because men will have impure thoughts... that really is the man's problem. He should have enough self control. And who decides what is sexy?

I'm talking about women like the ones who go to church with my mom.They always tell my mom that they want to look sexy in case they find a guy.THAT is WRONG!!! People who knowingly do it and think it's ok.adensmomma06 wearing casual clothes or clthes with a huge v neck dosen't matter.It's the persons intentions and how they themselves wear it.Belive me you can tell who's tying to pick up guys and fish for compliments.I am NOT saying that whoever wears tanktop has bad intentions.I'm saying you can spot the one with bad intentions from miles away.

Yes, but... it's a bit hypocritical to dress decently at church alone - I think women need to have a general standard of looking good without looking available. My standards are more relaxed than some, but I aim to stick to them everywhere, not just at church.

I don't believe in placing blame on the woman's dress/behavior for a man committing adultery. just as I believe it takes two to have an affair.
I would like to see women, in general, dress less provocatively with more respect for themselves.
having "diva" in rhinestones written across your butt doesn't put out the message that you are intelligent and that you desire respect.

I read your question and, everyone including men and women should dress properly.
the women should wear dresses and skirts that won't reveal anything, and the men, should wear suits with ties. The men it sounds like they are disrespectful, and the women that go around looking like dorks, should behave while in church. I don't know why people that go to church and claim to be Christian commit adultery but, its uncalled fore.

Case in point. I was in services on a couple of different occasions, in different churches and some of the ways the women, let alone the teenage girls were dressed was very unmodest. One in particular stands out, this 40 something mother of 2 wore low riders and her thong was showing for everyone to see. Her response when brought to her attention was, "And?". There is a level of modesty that can and should be observed in and out of church. Not all women and girls dress this way, but more and more are. Fashion styles change as do the times but one can still dress tastefully when going to a house of worship. The same goes for us men as well.
In scripture it's defined as "modest apparel", not boring, or sacks, or floor to head covering, but with respect for oneself and others. People know the message they are sending when they dress certain ways.

The bible tells us to dress modestly, however, many people that come to church, do not read the bible...

some dress that way all the time, and don't give it a thought.

Others may do it intentionally.

However, my thoughts are that if God is truly worshiped there, that the Holy spirit, will be strong enough to bring conviction on the person that is not dressed properly.

It is his job to convict of sin.

Also, for the ones that know it is wrong... the command would be to pray for that person, asking God to help her see how he would have her to look.

When God is truely exalted.. .sin can't stay.

Dressing appropriately and tastfully all depends on the person's perceptions of those definitions.

So what you think is unmodest might seem perfectly fine to someone else whose idea of modest is completely different .

Personally I think "flaunting it"(tastfully) shows you have confidence and tons of self respect.

I think women should always dress respectable wherever they are..be it in a church or in a beach..^^ I'm not saying that you will wear long skirts in the beach, too but what I mean to say is carry yourself in a respectful and formal way...^^
