Should I mention smoking marijuana to my doctor?

;] Asked by mrscobainx3 4 months ago, 12 answers.

I hafta go to the doctor soon, because im looking to get birth control.
I know that when you get birth contorl, one of the things they ask you is if you smoke, because it guess that can affect which birth control they give you.
I dont smoke cigarettes,but...

I do occasionally smoke pot.

Do I have to mention this ot them,or can I get by without telling them?
And what can happen if I tell them?

I agree with katycat.
im on bc, and it tells you smoking will increase the risk of heart disease.
and why do you want to smoke in the first place? your just smoking your life away its stupid. also your birth control may not work, if you smoke.

do tell them...the marijuana will affect the birth control
and can make it less effective
and if its less effective its not going to do you any good

Simply a Rose to brighten your day,
        And maybe lessen the cares in your way;
And also, too, to help you to know,
That in knowing you, many others grow!

Tell your doctor because he/she can advise you if it would create any complications. Also, because he/she can advise you on the latest studies regarding marijuana.

Thats a tricky question your underaged right? so the doctor could inform your parents. I wouldn't tell our docotor but I would stop smoking it or atleast use condoms all the time because im 90 percent sure the pill won't be 99.9 perfect effective if your smoking pot.

Well "ty" is right, they cannot tell anyone if you do or don't. Regardless of age, if it has to do with a medical condition then they can enlighten others with patient info, ie. diagnosises, past medications you've taken and such, but cant go randomly blurting out haha mrscobainexx's smokes pot!!! Yeah that's illegal, and I also would cause that may have an adverse affect on which kind of birth control they perscribe you.

theres no need to
it doesnt effect the birth control
even if you do say something it wont get you in trouble at all
everything is confidential unless you give consent
you dont need birth control, it has bad side effects
I would try using mirena
you should look into that its better than birth control
