You can get a steady job even with a major like Ancient History.
Colleges often have jobs available for students. You could see if they need tutors for any classes that you are taking or have taken. As you get higher up, there are things like assistant professor positions that you could look into.
You could also look for outside your college, possibly at a museum.
So you definitely have some options. You could also minor in something else entirely if you have another interest. That way, your minor might be able to help you get a job to fund your major.
If you'd like to pursue a teaching career (at the college level) you'll probably need a doctorate. I love seeing people so passionate about what they study--getting a Ph.D. probably won't be that bad since you're so passionate about the field. Some colleges can let you teach with a Masters degree as well. Sound advice from previous posts have already been made: go with your heart. You can make a solid entrance into the field with an undergraduate degree which on the same frame can help you pay for graduate studies. Best of luck to you! -S

Should I go for my dream job?

sometimes wonder if it will take too long to achieve this and if I won't have enough money. I don't like student loans and my parents are pretty much paying for my education right now but should I persue this or go with a safer choice, something that would guarantee me a steady job sooner than later?
