8 wks is first shots and booster them in three weeks after that and again and again. You should be getting DAP, (distemper, adeno, parvo) and PB ( in short kennel cough) you should do a stool check. Rabies vax will be given at last round of puppy vaccines. Find a vet and ask what they require, I work for one and all hospitals may be a little different except for RV (rabies) That is law and basied on what state you live in. Do not take vax's lightly. I see people spend more money or loose pup because they did not due what needs to be done to build puppies immunity.

The pup should have already received a "puppy shot" from the breeder at about 6 weeks...it's usually a 5-way vaccination...this covers the pup for disease between the time the colostrum from mama protected it, until about 8 weeks, when it gets another 3 shots, 2 weeks apart...

Take you pup in for a "wellness check", and get it started on it's shots...they can have a rabies shot at 4 months...
