What is stretching the truth?

Can anybody help me define what "stretching the truth"is? And can you tell me which one is worse lying or stretching the truth? You know just explain your best!

"stretching the truth" is when you are not exactly lying but not totally telling the truth either. it means that you are not being COMPLETELY honest.
I think lying is worse than stretching the truth but it totally depends on the situation. if someone asks, "do I look fat?" and they do, and you say, "you look the skinniest ever" that is a lie but its better than saying, "well, you don't look totally fat". oh that was a bad example but yeah. sorry.

Stretching the truth is part truth part lie.
I'd say lying is worse because its 100% false and stretching the truth is only part false. I don't suggest either though.

Streching the truth is when you tell a mix a lie and the truth together, and lying is just not the truth at all.
