It's just the same, only a different body part.

It is the same and is "pressure" related. Many abused teens do it as a way to let out the emotional pain.
I would ask her what she has weighing down her mind and try to be a great friend.
It really is high in abused people to let out the pain.

Cheers,

Mitch

Yeah it's the same thing. It is harder to see cuts on legs (especially if she does it on the top of her thighs etc) as it's easier to hide.

it is the same but is a little more serious than cutting your wrists. If its the higher part of her leg which I amuse it is and if she cuts to deeply she can end up cutting the major artery in the leg( which is probably as bad as cutting your throat)I suggest telling her this because the artery in your leg is one of that hardest places to stop bleeding from and if she cuts it then it's very serious

Dear mrcurious,
Your friend needs to get into counselling ASAP. cutting is treatable and must be treated professionally. You are right not to trust her. She needs to be monitored and safety plans need to be put into place. Speak with her mother about getting her the help she needs.
Sue...good luck

if you ever need help with her I am always there for ya it is the same thing but a bit more dangerous. see legs hold more blood lines and many many layers of muscles so she could easily impair herself or cause another problem maybe even death of blood loss. if you need help I have helped many a people out with this sort of problem and have even stopped most so if you need help just send a message or email.

Make sure she gets help. Cutting does not solve problems, it just creates more. She's obviously in a lot of mental pain, and so, just try to be there for her.
