Where can I buy a big rat cage?

I need a big rat cage ie tried pet smart looked on google and couldnt find a place were they sell rat cages
I een tried martncages
and none og=f them will work

I would not advise simply buying a rat cage online. You need to have a look at the rat cage (especially at the material it is made of) to see if it is the right one.

Firstly I do not advise buying at metal cage if you plan to leave him in the heat/sun a lot, from what I've been told you can literally fry them to death.

(I'm going on the assumption you want the rat cage for a rat, not some other random reason by the way)

If you already own the rat then you should try the place you brought it from, they should have some rat cages there. If you havn't brought the rat then look around at some local pet stores & see what they have in stock. Even places like Big W or Go-Lo sell rat cages.

Another option you have is to buy a cage for a different animal. When I say that I mean an animal such as a rabbit or gunia pig. Many people keep gunia pigs in rabbit cages & vise versa, though they may be a bit to big.

You could also attempt to make one, though you would need the help of someone older to help you. My dad made our old guniea pig cage, though he is pretty handy with tools.

I suggest looking at local stores instead of online. If you have a 'Pet Barn' or anything near you then that would be a good start. Even if they don't have what you want they should be able to point you in the right direction.

I suggest youi buy a big hamster cage at petco ar any pet store just make sure it is a good hamster cage and if you go to the mall they have a pet store with rats and rat cages, or you could buy wood and make a rat cage but you might need someone to help you with that but mostly I suggest the hamster cage the best thing to do .

My friend kept her pet rats in a large aquarium which had a slight crack in it - it was quite cheap from the pet shop because it couldn't hold water, but it was absolutely safe for the rats - they couldn't cut themselves or escape. She put a lid of wire mesh over the top, held down with stones or bricks. Inside they had sawdust, some branches to run around on etc. She was a vet so I assume she knew what was good for the rats!

Ohhh & also make sure that the cages haven't been treated with anything that the animals may chew on & get sick from.

my god that is horrible advice, you are a horrible person to use a hamster cage for rats, they need lots of room. and thehole sawdust thing, that stuff will kill them. I have two rats and am going to be getting two more and I use a giant 4 level ferret vage for them. honestly they bigger the cage the better.

If you really want a good rat cage, do not go and buy a hamster or gerbil cage. The ladders are flimsy and it is easy for the rats nails to pull it apart. I recommend Martin's Cages. Definitely well priced and you can arrange them in many ways.

Aquariums do not have good ventilation, therefore would have to be cleaned every other day or so, and could eventually lead to upper respiratory infection in your pet rattie from the build up of ammonia. And please do not use saw dust for rat bedding, that will also give them respiratory problems...at the very least. In the worst cases it could even suffocate them. The best beddings for rats are Aspen chips, CareFresh, rabbit food pellets, or SaniChips. I wouldn't recommend anything other than these. As far as what IS the best cage... I house my 2 adult females in a 2'x2'x4' ferret cage and all my younger rats are housed in large metal cages that have been modified to be safe for rattie feet. You can buy cages with wire mesh shelves and put plastic needle-point canvas over it to protect their little feet. I hope all this information helps. Good luck!
