Good question plainwhitets. I've even had the questioner FunMail me with appreciation, and sometimes add a comment to the online thread addressing me. I figure that if I can help a couple of people along the way, that's all to the good. I was listening to Loveline's Dr. Drew yesterday and he commented about his 23 years as host, and how the same questions keep coming up. He said that each time it happens he has a chance to help another person.
I like to think that is what drives advisors (official and otherwise) to keep answering.
p.s. to plainwhitets, do you know that your namesake band has been on Loveline at least twice. May '07 and Sept. '06. Talking, answering, and playing a couple of live acoustic songs. I've got the episodes if your interested.
I personally find it a bit unfortunate that not many people rate answers, but it's a personal choice whether to rate or not. Personally, if I see a really great answer, I will give it a good rating. Likewise, if someone gives a really poor or unhelpful answer, I will give it a bad rating. Others probably couldn't care less about rating answers, but its nice to know if you've given a good answer or not from time to time, or whether you've been helpful or not.
I'm kind of guilty of not rating answers, but I'm going to start rating them. I think it makes people happy to see someone liked their answer, and thats a feeling everyone deserves to have. If people are giving good advice, they should get a good rating in return. Theres quite a few answers I've givin and have expected a good rating, but nope, and thats a bummer. I think the rating scheme should be larger, right now its pretty much love it or hate it. And thats kind of crappy because some answers are good, just not good enough for a 100% answer. Hopefully people will start rating(more) in the future and maybe FunAdvice will create a bigger rating scheme.

Why isn't anyone rating answers?
It seems that hardly anyone rates answers anymore, even the advice that I find good advice (on other peoples profile advice, not mine alone), it doesn't have a rating! Am I WAY over-reacting or are my answers simply average?
Peace & Love
