Old questions on here

ok, so some of the questions here trip me up.

after I put in my two sence, and hit the post button,
I then realize, that the question I just anwsered is like ...3 years old ...aughghhh
I have done this more then once,,,

I can't be the only one thats...

done this ??
shouldn't questions have a life span and roll off the board after a few weeks or so?

How exactly do you find these questions? I usually have to go looking for them in the unanswered section...

And the reason old questions are around is for people to be able to search for previous answers to the same question... So it's not like you're wasting your time...

probably those "related questions' might get you to the old posts.
just keep an eye out on em.

ty the questions appear on the right side of the page. I do this too sometimes, but I think that questions should remain on in case someone else has the same question - they will be able to look up the answers on that question and it might save them some time.

I actually don't think it's a waste of time to answer an old question. Some of them seem to 'live again' when people rediscover them and get the conversations going in a new direction...

Yes and no. The life-span theory would be quite efficient if you were trying to make space and clear the boards simple. However, I've seen boards that are about 2 years old and never went a day without a new post. The easiest solution would be to find some way to detect when a question has been idle for six months, and go through an automatic deletation process.
