try re-installing your iTunes program with the iTunes software disc that was included. after you do that, try updating your iTunes from the apple website to make sure. if that still doesn't work, try resetting your iPod back to the original factory setting. this erases the music from your iPod but if your music files are in your iTunes library or saved to your computer it's fine. and if that still doesn't work, try going to the apple website at www.apple.com... and looking at the iPod problem forums and FAQ. if you can't find an answer, try to get into contact with someone at the customer service department of the site who can give you tech help or going to the store where you bought it if they have an Apple specialist.

Why won't my ipod sync?
I had my 30 gig ipod stollen that was 1st Gen. I recently purchased a 5th G ipod that tells me "The ipod cannot be synced. The required disc cannot be found".
