Unacceptable racism and how to handle it?

Okay so this is a long story but I really need some advice! So I play for a school soccer team and during one of our games last week, there were players from the other team who called me and my friend (we are both Jewish) "k*kes", my friend who is muslim...

a terrorist, and my two african-american friends "fat n**gers"...to me this is absolutely unacceptable! My school, with its need to have a perfect reputation, is doing practically NOTHING!!! They are hardly talking to the athletic director of the other school, and refusing to take anymore action. This has been happening for years with this school, since my oldest cousin, who is now 23, went to school and played the same team. Its obvious that anything being done is not working. My team, other than those who were called those things, dont really understand the weight of the situation. I had an idea to get together about 7-8 girls, show up at our next game against them, and refuse to play. I think coming from the players, even if our school disagrees, will send a stronger message and help us stand up for what we believe in. The only problem is, the rest of my team doesnt really understand the enormity of the situation, and therefore are afraid of getting in trouble with the school and taking it too far. My coach agrees with me, but he cannot force anyone to do anything. I think its just as bad to say that the school isn't doing anything, and then not do anything myself. What are your thoughts on this? How can I help my team understand and convince them to do this with me?! Thanks in advance!

I think your school should do something, otherwise, aren't they breaching their duty of care? Do you have like an education department; like, someone the school answers to?

I'm not exactly sure, as I attend a private school...no one can really make the school get more involved that I know of.

What state do you live in? I'll try and do some research, but I can't promise I'll find anything.

If I can't find anything, maybe you can just get all your parents to complain or do you have a local politician? (I'm sorry, but I don't know how it works in the U.S.)

How about writing an article about it and submitting it to your local newspaper -- maybe the editorial section or "comments" section. If the local population realizes what's going on they may apply pressure to the schools to get their act together.

Even if the school doesn't do anything, just know that when the racist opponents hit the real world, they will be punished in ways you could never understand.
