Nearest place to britain where I could swim in the pacific ocean?

I have always wanted to swim in the Pacific and wondered what would be one of the nearest holiday destinations to Britain where I could do this.

You could always come over to Sydney to swim in the South Pacific Ocean; we have plenty of beaches here and it's not that far away from you; the distance between Sydney and London is only 16,997Km (10,562 miles), which is approximately 22 hours 40 minutes on a plane; it’s not that far at all.

um...are you sure you know what you are talking about? Britain is in the ATLANTIC. I should know I was only in Europe for maybe...shhh I dunno...3 years?

I'm looking for the nearest holiday destinations to Britain where I could swim in the Pacific.

I already live in Britain, I want to swim in the pacific and want to know the nearest holiday destination I could fly to FROM Britain to achive this dream.

I realise we are talking 1000's of miles here, all I'm looking for are some countries that border the Pacific. Specifically, the closest countries to Britain.

EG. Mexico might be one answer, I am fully aware that it is 1000's of miles from Britain but even so, it may still be the CLOSEST holiday destination to Britain that is bordering the Pacific.
