Facebook is a visually 'cleaner' site, with a more straightforward layout, and isn't as bogged down as Myspace is because of all the video/flash/pictures.

Facebook also has better privacy controls because of it allows greater customization of specifically who can see your profile (down to individual friends even).

On Facebook generally people will be more 'real' because you put your real name on your profile and real info (usually)...so you'll tend to actually act like who you really are.

Myspace has a very active music community, which is a huge plus for the music-lovers out there or indies out there looking to make a name for themselves.

If you want complete control over your profile's look and feel (structure, color, etc.), then obviously Myspace is the better choice.

I'd actually prefer Facebook for pictures due to their use of AJAX (that means you don't have to reload the page to look at the next picture), so it's faster to get through people's picture. On the other hand, if you're really into pictures you would be more into Flickr not Myspace in the first place.

Also, Facebook's developers seem to always be working on something new or fresh to improve the site. On Myspace, you rarely see any kind of improvements (besides the new 'layout' which is hardly all that different).

Overall, Facebook, in my opinion, is by far the better choice as far as social networks go.

Facebook is good for getting a date and meeting new people and myspace is good for pictures and blogging
so it all depends on what you want to do

This question was asked a few months ago, and the overwhelming response was MySpace. Now, it's Facebook.

I have to agree. MySpace, as isaac_a pointed out, gets bogged down with graphics and it takes a ridiculously long time to load a single profile page. Facebook involves no web design whatsoever, which makes it more user friendly. Facebook also seems to be far more creative, offering a wide range of applications and groups to users. And, it's easier to track down and connect with someone through Facebook mainly because it has more search criteria.

So since the purpose of these two sites is connecting people socially, I'd have to say Facebook does a better job. I will never have a myspace account.
