well you probably need more memory. Sims is a large game. check to make sure you have the system requirements that it asks for from the box. more memory is always better. a faster CPU helps too. If the computer is running slow in general try doing a Disk cleanup and disk defragmenter. If you have an older computer you definatly need to do those.
Yeah, it sounds like you will need to defrag your hard drive. Check for errors on it too. (can be done in drive properties, also) Do disk cleanup, and delete anything you dont need on your computer. Check your paging file size, or buy more RAM. Before you start the sims, press Alt+Ctrl+Del and bring up task manager. Stop any processes that you don't need. (If you don't already do this, it should help a lot, but you have to do it each time you start the game) DONT stop ANY programs that you are unsure of what they are. Only stop processes that are under your user name. (IMPORTANT!) I think there is a page in the back of the booklet that comes with the game that tells you which processes you can stop.
Other than that, to keep your computer running at its best, make sure you're spyware and adware free. These bugs can really slow down your game. Spybot Search and Destroy is a great and totally free spyware eliminator that you can download. Ad Aware Personal SE by Lavasoft is awesome for adware. It will get rid of all those nasty cookies that can spy on your computer. Also, I heard that AVG Anti-virus (also free) is a great program, but I have not tried it out yet.
As long as your computer meets the minimum requirements of the game, you should be set. If not, no amount of tweaking, cleaning, or voodoo will help the game to run satisfactorily.

Why does it take sims 2 forever to load?
It takes like 10 minutes for Sims 2 to load on my computer and sometimes it freezes but mostly its just really really slow loading everything evertime I want to create a new person or enter a neighborhood or even switch from building to buying stuff. ...
Is there any kind of computer chip or something I could install on my computer to speed things up?
