3-month-old in extreme gas pain

Asked by veebee503 8 months ago, 8 answers.

Ok I have a 3 month old daughter and shes in extreme pain when she has gas. I tried mylicon. Im not sure what else to do. Would you recommend gripe water?

If you can still buy gripe water, it should be OK (the old fashioned kind had alcohol in it, but the stuff still on the market should be OK - check it just in case). I didn't use that, though, I used something with an orangey flavour and scent. Ask your pharmacist and your health visitor what they recommend. Other than that, keeping the baby on your shoulder and rubbing her back to encourage belching is the best I can suggest. Some babies do get wind badly and there is no 'cure', only a few things which may or may not improve it. Growing older does work, though, so you and she won't have to live with it for too much longer! Very best of luck...

My sons pediatrition suggested putting him belly down over my knees and patting his back- worked like a charm

gripe water can be really effective. also try a nice warm bath or take bub into the shower with you. my kids used to be full of wind and I put them on their tummy over my arm or legs if sitting and pat their back it always got it up. if I were you id do the gripe water drops into the mouth than a warm bath. it shoudl do the trick.

Try putting the baby in a warm baby bath. Sometimes the warm water will relieve the stomach muscles from cramping.
