well if thats your family thats pretty grose...and if yall just now met..I think its way to early to get married make sure your in love first.

no you can not do that. don't do it getting married 2 a family member is rong they have the same blood as you and why would you do that? it will mess the family up so if she is like your cousin or something, her parents will be granparents your aunt or uncle and they would be your parents. so that would be wrong it would mess up your families a lot.

not only is it extremely weird and disgusting, its not healthy... when people have kids with relatives, the kids come out with a lot of problems, like mental retardation or physical deformities...its not safe to mix strands of same gene code... and plus, its incest... so the answer is no, it really is not okay.

if they are a distant relative then I dont see whats wrong with that. if they were closer in blood to you then I could see a problem. you cant help who you fall in love with.

I grew up on and Indian Reservation where I am literally related to almost the entire population (I hale from the two largest families on this reservation). And one of the odd taboos about where I grew up was "don't hook up with your cousin!" and this is something that has been tossed about a lot.
My conclusions:

1st Cousin - Hell no! That's just gross! Not only is it gross and genetically unstable (if you don't believe me then just ask British people; they've been doing it for generations upon generations...). In some states in the U.S., you can legally marry your first cousin if you sign a document stating that you will not have children with this person.

2nd Cousin - You can legally marry your second cousin and have children with them in the United States. There is enough genetic difference between the two of you where your progeny wouldn't come out deformed or anything. Where I am from, that is taboo and I would not even do it but others may feel differently.

3rd Cousin - Not as bad as hooking up with your first and second cousin but I still wouldn't do it simply because it would be frowned upon where I come from and that was ingrained into me. But I wouldn't judge you if you did it. I would understand.

4th Cousin - Does anybody even count after this? Really, how could two people possibly be related if they are calling each other fourth cousin? Go for it! I hope he/she is hot!

This Is Just My Personal "Cousin" System As I Come From An Area Where This Sort Of Situation Legitimately Comes Up A Lot & I Totally Understand You,

P.S.- Bottom line, if you love this person then go for it. As long as they are not your first cousin then "F#@!" what everyone else says, myself included. If you two love each other then you should be together...end of story!

One More Thing,

Perhaps you are asking the wrong question. It just dawned on me that at the beginning of the question, you stated, "I just met my cousin last week." You've known this person for one week and you are already considering marriage?
