It's a boil/cyst. Calm down, it is a result of the hair follicle being infected, so one of your hair follicles under your arm is infected which caused the swelin ; the boil. It will disappear in a couple of days

this may sound funny but did you just shave..... some times when you shave you get a spot under the skin that can be really sore and wont look like a bite, just goes red, if so it will go away in a few days if not go see your doctor but I would not worry to much

I could also be a syst, but the best thing to do would be to go see a doctor as soon as possible, you never know, it could be early signs of cancer. I'm not trying to scare you, but you need to find out what it is.

If it doesn't disappear in a day or two, go to your doctor. Go sooner if you've been having flu-like symptoms.

Answered by rdrydr2 on Nov 06, 2006, 11:00AM

Was there any other areas of swelling like in your neck of groin areas? What you discribed in your post is usualy a sign of a swollen lympth node. They are located in the arm, neck, under the chin and groin area. They are your infection collectors. I agree that if any swelling appears in other areas or flu like symptoms appear you should go to your doctor right away. But if there is any enlargement of the swelling you do need to seek medical advice. It is better to err on the side of caution. Most times from what you discribed is just an inflamed lympth node. But it should still be watched and checked out to make sure.

I've gotten a lump under my arm in the past from using a 'cheap' brand of deodorant. Tussy does it everytime I've ever tried to use it.

What is the link with flu like symptoms? I have a very tender right arm pit and can feel a lump under the skin, I also have been sneezing and bringing up lots of yellow phlegm?

Answered by ccharlieebrownn on Aug 10, 2007, 10:29PM

If it itches it might be a sign of a staff infection. Go to your doc.

I discovered a lump the same as you are all describing on the side of my jaw the other day so I went to see my doctor today and my friend has had the same thing but under her armpit like it is side above. You have no need to be worried it is just a swollen gland and apparently cannot be treated but it will go on it's own. If you find it painful then just take some pain killers. But if the lump is still there in a couple of weeks and you are still concerned I would go and see your doctor. Hope this helps x

Calm down. I've gotten the same thing. It's fine. Squeeze it to see if anything comes out. If nothing comes out, try once every morning. Eventually, I got a lot of stuff out of it. It was kind of gross, but it helped. I did that and mine is practically gone now. I assume mine will be gone in the next few days.

it could be a kind of plague..no seriously, go see a doctor!

Thunder Robot Answered by funadvice on Dec 13, 2007, 12:41AM

I get them all the time. They are pea sized like you said and pretty hard which would give the assumption of cyst. I asked my doctor when I started to get nervous about getting them and honestly...its just from shaving. Its a large pimple basically. Its like having those extrememly painful pimples on your face that are just impossible to pop. If you're still worried, I would go see a doctor anyway just to be sure. But im sure you're ok. take care.

Nothing is wrong with you, you probably had a minor bacteria infection. Under your arm is one of the places where the lymph nodes are located, they are similar to that of the white blood cells which attack bacteria and engulf them, eliminating bacteria build up in the body. You probably used someone else's razor, or someone used yours unbeknownst to you, which caused their bacteria to infect you. It's perfectly normal, give it a couple of days and it will go down, the lymph node is just swollen because it is digesting the bacteria to save you.

Have you had your tonsils removed?

Since I had mine out 10 years ago I often get sore lumps under my left arm (never the right, strangely). Its just swollen glands due to infections.

I used to have real trouble with my tonsils, hence they were removed and now I have it in the glands of my arms. You might just be like me and have very sensitive glands.

Its sore but your not dying!

I got a bump just couple days ago under my right armpit, and it went away, and just today I got it on my left armpit. I looked up on the web, sayin it was just a swollen lymph node gland thingy or watever. wow kinda sore ah hahaha. im glad I read up on all you guys tings. im not worried anymore. because yes, I do shave. also, I just switched my deodarant too. I use to use secret, and now I switched to dove. culd that be da cause too??? damn I have more reasons why. culd be any of um. because it also says that vaccinations can cause something like that too right? I just got da gardasil vacine..culd that be it? but maybe not. because I got da first lump couple of days before I got vaccinated. so maybe it isnt. I dont know. what you all think??

Answered by dawnd75 on Apr 06, 2008, 12:47PM

I just had a bad lump under my right armpit too. it developed a head to it on the surface of the skin and I squeezed it and it actually popped bigtime but man was it sore to do so, hurt like heck, and I think it must have been some kind of bad pimple/boil and gave some swelling to the glands in my right pit but it seems to be less sore now and seems like it is calming and should fade soon. at first I wondered if it was a cyst or something worse but looks like it was either an infection leading to the pimple causing the swelling but yes was very sore and now the soreness is lessening for sure.

it is probably a swollen gland. I sometimes get them right after I shave. hope this helped.

Answered by micaiah89 on Apr 26, 2008, 08:51AM

It could have been a large pimple or boil like others are saying. Two years ago I got one under my armpit and I didn't know what it was. At first I thought it was cancer, and so I started freaking out. Then (when I got my brain back) I decided to look it up online. I read about the lymph nodes and so I assumed it was just that and left it alone. Well, this thing didn't go away, it just got bigger and more painful. It never came to a head for some reason. By the time it was larger than a quarter the doctor finally got to look at it. Well, actually the nurse looked at it first. Right off the bat she told me it was a boil, but she had the doctor come in just to check it out. He said it was a boil too. It was so large (and deep) that they had to actually cut it open and lance it so that it would heal. It hurt really bad, smelled horrible, and was really annoying because of how often I had to get it repacked. The only plus side to it was that I got out of any heavy exercise for P.E. (because the doctor didn't want me sweating). We figured out it must have been either because of the deoderant I was using (it was a gel based formula rather than powder based) or because of an ingrown hair or a combination of the two.
It could be nothing or it could be something. Either way if it starts to grow and hurts like heck, I would get to a doctor right away to have them check it out before it gets too big. Trust me it's not pretty even now I have a scar from the cut they had to make to drain it and a couple of months afterwards I ended up getting a yeast infection type thing under there. Not pretty.

this same thing happened to me a few days ago.. I was really concerned about it and afraid it was cancer but today when I woke up it was gone. the chances of it actually being harmful are very slim so if I were you I would wait about a week and if it doesn't clear up tell a doctor
