I want to buy a big screen TV is LCD or plasma better? Which one lasts longer?

Plasmas don't last as long, but they have a much brighter picture to avoid sun-glare destroying your view. I prefer Plasma over LCD for price as well as performance. The life of the TV would be something like 3 years if they spent most of their day on it. Normal folk can expect closer to eight years.

LCD's aren't there yet...a common fault of all of them is that the pixels have a bad habit of dying so you end up with these little white dots which catch your eye ..really annoying! Also, if you like sports, quick movements leave a trailer on the images because the scanning rate of LCD is so slow compared to plasma...viewing angles are terrible with LCD's also...unless you're face front forget it...The next big thing in the screen market will be LED pictures...no power to drive them and the screens will be super light...but if you're impatient and need one now, Panasonic makes the best plasma on the market...by far...and if you have digital sources, ie sattelite, blue ray...the realism is astounding...Good viewing!
