In reply to your question, according to the Quran (Holy book of Islam), Iblis (Devil), was an angel in heaven, so when our creator created Adam and Eve, Allah (name of the God that muslims believe in) asked all his Angels to bow down to Adam and Eve, but Iblis refused to do do, so therefore caused Allah's wrath... In addition Allah sent Iblis to hell and Iblis made a deal with Allah: that he would lead man into temptation therefore making man disobedient to Allah and as their punishment they would go to hell in the after life unless they repent for their sins.

Iblis will only exist untill the last day, were he too will be punished accordingly.

Hope that answered your question...(correct me if im wrong)

The devil does not have eternal LIFE, but eternal damnation to hell, just like souls in heaven are eternally in heaven. Those who go to hell are eternally there. God doesn't kill Lucifer, Lucifer was already in heaven. He challenged God, disobeying him, wanting to take over, and God threw him out of Heaven and into Hell, damning him there forever.

thats a hard question to answer. I think its because he will be sent to hell. Dont you have to Die so you can go to hell? I dont know about eternal life thow. But I can say that the devil will suffer. because he will be locked up for a thousnd years and then sent to hell.

According to my Bible, at judgement, the Devil is cast into the Lake of Fire - eternally - no more power over man.

IT IS NOT POSSIBLE FOR MAN TO KILL THE DEVIL BUT GOD HAS ALREADY SENTENCED THE DEVIL TO ETERNAL DAMNATION... ALL SOULS BELONG TO GOD AND GOD LOVES ALL OF HIS CHILDREN AND WISHES THAT ALL WOULD OBEY AND LOVE HIM. GOD ALSO IS A TRUE AND JUST GOD.GOD WILL TAKE CARE OF SATAN AND HIS FOLLOWERS. ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE THRU GOD

O.k., two good questions here. In order to answer the first question we must understand who Satan is, what is his purpose, what are his limitations and what is in store for him. Using the bible, as per your query, let's take a look.
First, Satan is a created being, an angel. Isaiah 14 verse 12", How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer,( other name for Satan) son of the morning. How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations." Satan was one of the most beautiful creations in heaven. He was a cherub with a great deal of GOD given authority. He was prideful causing his fall from heaven after a failed rebellion. Continuing on verse 13," For you have said,( now watch this), in your heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God, I also will sit on the mount of the congregation, on the farthest side of the north, I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High."
His purpose? To deceive as many people into thinking he does not exist or that he really is not that bad. He portrays himself as an angel of light. He mixes truth with lies. In fact he is called the father of lies.
His limitations? Job provides a clear understanding on the limitations of Satan. Chapter 1 and chapter 2 deal with the tradgedies that befall Job. But, If you read it carefully you see that Satan can only do what God allows and no more. Verse 8 beginning," Then the Lord said to Satan,' Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the face of the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?' So Satan answered the Lord, 'Does Job fear God for nothing?' Have You not made a hedge around him, his household and around all he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands and his possessions have increased in the land. But now, stretch out Your hand and touch all he has, and he will surely curse you to Your face!' So the Lord said to Satan,' Behold all that he has is in your power, only do not lay a hand on his person.
After that encounter between God and Satan, Satan went and destroyed all of Job's possessions including his children. But, God said not to touch Job's person and Satan didn't.
What's the end for Satan? Well, scripture is very clear about where he will be spending eternity. Revelation 20 verse 10," And the Devil, who deceived them, was cast alive into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they shall be tormented day and night forever and ever."
Getting back to the original question," Is it possible to kill the devil?" For God, yes of course, but because of the rebellion he created and the drawing away of millions of souls, God has chosen an eternal punishment. One that will NEVER, EVER end.
The second part is while Satan will live in hell for eternity and suffer endlessly, he will be alive during his torment, but not have Life
Hope it helps.

there's a pretty famous piece of writing by the name of Paradise Lost which explains the whole story and answers all the questions man has. I learned about it when I was in high school (junior year english class I believe) and the reason God never killed Lucifer was to make him suffer.

If God killed the devil, then there'd be no consequences; and then Christianity would make even less sense.

This is a deep question and takes a lot of explanation to really get the point accrossed. The devil can't die he was never alive in the sense that we understand here. He was like us before we were born. He wanted all the power and glory of God and would not except the plan that God has for us. He was cast out of God's presence and was given the ability to tempt us. I think this had to have been part of the God's plan because He desires that we be tested and how can we be truly tested if there is no temptation. There has to be opposition in all things... light and dark...happiness and sadness... good and evil. Death to Satan is that he is damned (stopped from progressing any further) and he is cast eternally out of God's presence. He will be eternally separated from us if we choose light, happiness, and good over Satan's temptations.

I don't think it was ever God's intention to make any of us suffer. The suffering happens because there are always consequences to our actions. The consequence for Satan was to be eternally cast out and to never be able to return to God.

you all have made great arguments in the favor of the impossibilty of killing the Lightbringer "that's what Lucifer means in latin"...I think the more important fact to look at is the story of Lucifer himself...he was a) an angel b)created by God to serve and worship for eternity c) able to have free will since he rebeled...but have you ever thought about what life would be like in terms of ethics if Satan, Lucifer, the Evil One...etc did not exist? OR rather had not rebelled? It leads one to wonder if God had simply created Lucifer to sin...because what would it be to do good if there were no alternative? It would make the basis of Christianity null and void...the ideals of Jesus Christ would not make sense because the moral system would have no basis of right or wrong...

Actually yes, I have thought how much better the world would be if Satan never rebelled and kept his place amoung the angelic hosts of God. First, and most importantly, Christ wouldn't have had to come to this earth in the form of His creation to die a death that was so horrible and brutal to pay a debt we could never pay that wasn't even His. Salvation would not be necessary, as we would all be in heaven, living in God's presence. You pointed it out yourself, God didn't create Lucifer to sin though, Satan chose to sin. He acted on the very same thing we as humans deal with daily. PRIDE. Self will, our own way, what makes me happy, they all fall into that category of pride. Satan chose to defy God because he wasn't satisfied doing what he was made to do. God wants all of us, His creation, to choose Christ's way because He is The Way, and so he gave us the power to choose. Satan most assuredly made the WRONG choice.

pride...that's laughable...but perhaps you are indeed right...I never thought about it like that before...but the question arises in the point of free will...is it truly free will or merely an illusion? God is omnipotent correct?...he is not affected by the finite flow of time...(well in our minds time is infinite...but for the sake of argument let us assume time is finite)...thus he can see all there has been and all that will in logical conclusion correct? If this is correct, then free will is an illusion, because He knows what you are going to do before you do it, so all you are doing on your end is just being in the right place at the right time...you can say that you can "choose" not to do what He says and not follow and go and do what you want...but then again He already knew that you were going to do that...so what choice do you have as a mortal?

True, God does know what the future holds for each person. He also knows what will we do and yet loves us enough to let us make the choice ourselves even if He knows it will hurt us. Why? God isn't in the business of mind control or forcing us to do His bidding. As any parent loves their child and doesn't want them to get hurt, God much the same way allows us to make mistakes in order to learn that His way is the best way. Could He prevent it ? Sure. Does He? Sometimes, but on the whole He lets us, His children go through life making mistakes, using our freedom to choose, and loving us in spite of them.

Only God knows how long the devil can live. And also the devil knows how long he can live. But how could any of you know? And Adam and Eve might have known, but are they here to tell us? I don't see them anywhere.

He is a spirit, and he is alive and well, if you think not, look around... who is the author of all the sickness and death all around us... who is the tempter...
We have the power, in Jesus name to resist him... and to overcome him... but, we have to use the tools that God gives.. we cannot defeat him in the flesh... but, thru the power of the blood, and the word of God... we can be victorious...He will be completely destroyed one day... but, until then... we have to be sober minded... and watchful...

God is creating a new heaven and new earth, in which, only the redeemed of the Lord may enter. There will be no more sin, no sickess, no dying, no heartbrake, no sorrow, only joy forevermore, and it is ours for the taking. The ticket has been paid for, but, we have to claim it, otherwise, it will go to someone else. God prevents no one from entering, we prevent ourselves, by our lack of faith. He does not condemn us, we condemn ourselves. He set the terms, its his heaven.. we are invited.. he does not make anyone do anything... he offers, its up to us to obey. We continually have choices... to make.. good or bad... we exercise our understanding of Gods will and laws, each time we choose. As for me and my household, we choose to serve God.
