Hypnosis works, but only on those who wish to be hypnotised.

This is a good question. I've heard claims that hypnosis is bunk, and that all that's really happening is that the person 'hypnotized' is behaving teh way the hypnotist wants just to please the hypnotist. It's a form of mutual deception supposedly.

I have no idea though. I seem to be one of those people that can't be hypnotized no matter how badly I want to be.

All hypnosis is self-hypnosis. The hypnotist is just a guide helping the client achieve relaxation state. (Though not impossible, it's extremely difficult to hypnotize someone who doesn't want to be hypnotized.)

hypnosis is a science just like any other field. dont think its a way to take out the secrets from u. a person can be hypnotized by a professional. hypnotic state is a different state of sleep and nothing to do with making somebody do a crime or taking out secrets. because if somebody ask some question that hurts the persons feeling the state of hypnotism breaks abruptly. take hypnotism in a positive way, it can be taken to relax, grow self esteem etc. even one can hypnotize himself. a totally new techniques is of hypnotizing during operations to reduce the pain instead of using tranquilizer. but hypnotism should be taken up from professional practitioner

I've tried to get hypnotized and I am aware that you can be hypnotized unless you want to be. But I think sub conciously I don't belive its posible to hypnotize me. I guess the idea of me not being in control is a scary thought.

Hypnosis is pretty funny to watch.

Yeppers,
it's simple want you know what your doing
occupie the concies mind & then you have access to the subconcies
or just keep repeating in different ways
hmmm... do this
test it with a friend(it's not dangerous)
havre them hold out 2 hands one with the palm facing ^ & the other facing v
have them side by side, but relaxed
tell them to shut their eyes & focus on only your voice, nothing else
tell thme in the palm facing ^ that they have a ballon tied to their wrist,
it's so light, so very light.
the balloon is getting lighter & lighter, but their not trying to hold it down
the balloon drifts up & up, it's so very light
& in the palm facing v (you might actially want to lightly touch the hand & tell them "in this hand" so they don't have to think about it, just on what you say) that their holdng a bowling ball, it's so heavy, your hand is getting tired & the ball is getting heaverier & heavier, it's so very heavy
when you tell them to open their eyes they should notice that their hand are no longer even, the palm ^ with the "balloon tied to it" should have drifted up & the palm v with "holding a bowling ball" should have drifted down
that's basicly what hypnotism is
people who are really good at it can get you thining that your drivng a car & such
you know what's going on but you can't but you can't help but to do what you're told depending how vunrable your mind is to that type of stuff

Yes, but the person you are trying it on has to want to be hypnotized.
