Is it normal for humans to have worms?

is it normal for humans to have worms... you know like a cat or dog gets? do they go away by theirself or what? and can they kill you?
just wondering...

Its not normal to have worms but you can get them from dogs/ cats... etc. They don't go away by themselves you have to go to a doctor and be treated and you can also pass them on to other people so make sure you tell them you may have them. No they cannot kill you they do not cause any harm to your body they only cause mild irritation

There is medication you can get readily from most chemist/drug stores. I know of one person who didn't realise they had worms until they saw one moving across the surface of their eye!!!

I ALWAYS HEARD THAT IF YOU KEEP THEM TO LONG THEY COULD EAT YOUR STOMACH LINING I DONT KNOW HOW TRUE THAT IS BUT MY CHILD GOT IT ONCE AND I TOOK HER TO THE DOC AND THEY GAVE HER MEDCINE TO TAKE CARE OF IT.

I don't know where you live or what parasite you are talking about, but in the tropics, parasitic worms can be very bad, in the US, not so much. Your doctor can help identify and treat infestations. (I remember in school we learned that pin worms are pretty harmless and only cause a burning sensation around the anus which is where the female lays her eggs. If one touches that area barehanded and doesn't wash their hands, the pin worm eggs will be passed on to the next person. The pin worm is eventually expelled from your body. It's estimated that 100% of adults will have had pin worm infestations at some point.)

mynah and bimjob - oh ok I was just wondering because my friend was talking about she might have them. she said they sorta come and go. like she'll have them... then they'll go away for awhile. she said that just happened awhile ago(they went away then awhile later they came back). so is this an ok case or should she get treatment?

Sounds like periodic reinfection with the relatively harmless pinworm, rather than one of the tropical nasties. Pinworm infection rarely require treatment and usually clears up on its own in healthy people. Reinfection can be prevented by washing the hands after going to the toilet, playing with pets or before handling food, and by bathing and changing underwear and bedding regularly - especially when an infection is active.

now she told me that when she took a crap *I know TMI but she tells me everything and wanted me to ask about this too* she said there was like something that almost looked like a little bit of blood. but she said it didn't really look like blood. she said it was almost pinkish. is that from worms? or what...
I don't know what to tell her
