He annoys you because he loves you. You're his big brother and he looks up to you. Be nice to him and bite your tongue when you want to tell him to shut up. Be a good example. there are nice ways of telling someone to be quiet. You can say, "hey, you want to play my video game?" Just ask him questions or direct him elsewhere by being nice about it
I understand that by you saying 'shut up' to him, you are in someway behaving in a normal way, and you don't really want your relationship to change, let alone end. I really do understans, also, that you treating hm this way may well be your way of coping with a potential loss, and brothers can be annoying (I have two).
but what I would say is, if anything does happen to him, how are YOU gong to feel? are you going to wish that you'd been kinder and more patient?
if you think you're scared by him potentially dying or being brain damaged, can you imagine how your parents and him feel?
I feel for your mum and dad, if one of my children were that ill and the other was treating him like that, I'd be really really hurt that he coulnd't make the effort for a little while to just 'get on' with his bro...
you have to live with yourself at the end of the day, you have plenty of time to tell him to 'shut up' when he's better and you can afford to be complacent about his health...
for now, just be kind, and think how you would feel in that situation? yes, you woulnd't want to be treated differently, but it would also be nice to know you would be missed by a person you probably look up to...
guilt is a poeerful and destructive thing...and resentment can be damaging, I woulnd't want your parents to feel resentful about your behaviour, and I wouldn't wish guilt on anybody, but then, some deserve it...just be nice, he's your bro...
