Is happiness a need or a want?

I want to hear what you think.
I believe that happiness is a want because you can techincally live without happiness.

Loads of people live never feeling happy unfortunately, so I think you are right, its more of a want. =)

its a need and want. everyone wants to be happy thats what lifes all about is trying to be happy with your life. people need to be happy cause who wants to have grumps around alll the time .lol

You say you can live without happiness. Yet everyone at some point in their lives, has had happiness. Maybe it hasn't been since they were a child, but they did have it at some point, so they have those memories to go back on.

Also, without happiness you would slowly go insane. Without good memories from your past you would lose your sanity.

Actually I have had good memories but they made me feel bad because apparently I was living a lie

but I see it as a NEED if you want to make your life worth living.

To me, it is a need. I NEED to be happy to function. I will absolutely not get out of bed and get through my day if I am not happy.

Of course everyone wants to be happy its just human to want to be happy.
But then its a Must as well. I don't think you could possible succeed or deal with things or be a good mother or whatever it is you do without being happy. Everyone needs to be happy just to get by in life...
