Inference meaning

My little sister wants to know what inference is, as a science term. We tell her what it is, but she doesn't believe it, but it was the cutest thing she just goes FUNADVICE IT! lol What is inference, as a science term?

"Inference is the act or process of deriving a conclusion based solely on what one already knows."

I assume it's telling the truth

Scientific inference leads to the recognition that further analysis or different (eg. more complex) theory is required to explain the results of the scientific experiment in such a way that the conclusion derived is that relating to incompleteness or inapplicability, while in the case of accidental or unexpected results another scientific explanation can be derived or determined through verification of inference, so yes inference is important in leading to the scientific truth. For example, through scientific theory, if A and B leads to C instead of D, then C infers that A and B need to be treated differently in a scientific sense such that the conclusion is not always very important.
