How can I dye my hair without using hair dye? I've tried bleach and peroxide..it doesn't work. Have I done something wrong?

Okay, darlin', let me explain something.

If you are putting Bleach (gasp!) and peroxide in your hair, you have already added way harsher chemicals in your hair than what hair color uses. You may as well just go to a professional and have it done. THis is how hair color works:

You have a bottle of the color and a bottle of peroxide. The peroxide strips your pigmented color from your hair shaft, allowing the color bottle to work by depositing color onto the hairshaft.

If you just put peroxide in your hair, it will strip the pigment, leaving your natural hair color lighter. But you need heat to activate it. You need to spray that in your hair and go in the sun or sit under a dryer. The problem is that it will only ligthen a few shades and it probably won't be an even color. And it rarely comes out light enough for most girls.

Bleach--I have on idea on earth why you would put bleach in your hair but then turn around and say you don't want to put dye in it. Are you talking hair bleach or laundry bleach? Hair bleach will strip all color from your hair and leave it Marilyn Monroe blonde. Laundry bleach--I dont even know why or what that woudl be for.

Just go to a professional, tell her what you want, stop experimenting with household chemicals.
