How can I convince my parents to let me have a puppy?

I really want a puppy but my parents don't want one. What should I do?

prove to them that you can look look after a dog that you'll feed it ,bath it and take it for walks and you maybe might change their mind goodluck

I agree with Claire87, you need to show that you're responsible enough to be a dog-owner and prove to them that if they get you a dog that you will look after it yourself and not lose interest and expect mum and dad to pick up the slack.

Think long and hard about this, dogs need a lot of care and attention as well as love. You need to make sure you have time to care for them as best they deserve.

You also might want to consider the fact that puppies, albeit cute and cuddly, need housetraining, obedience training and a lot of care - not to mention the fact that they will grow into large dogs. If you are set at going ahead with getting a dog and your parents allow it maybe consider getting an older dog that is more suited to a family environment. There is a lot of time and effort involved in training a puppy and you may not be able to spare it.

There is also the financial side of it - will your parents have to pick up the bill for feeding and vets bills, because neither are inexpensive!

Also consider things like time restraints, if you are at school all day and your parents both work is it fair to take on a dog that will spend long days alone? If one or both of your parents are home during the day you need to make sure that they are willing to care for your pet when you're not around - this is probably one of the main reasons they're not happy about the idea.

A dog is a long-term commitment and you have to be willing to set aside the next 14 years or so to being this animals "parent", will your future allow that?

show them your responsible. Tell them you will really take care of it feed it, bathe it, love it, etc. And they will probably think about it.

im 10 and my parents wont let me get a dog beaucaus they think im not responsible to do every thing even though I signed a contract.They say that when im at school who will take care of it give it walks, when we go on a vacation what do we do with the dog, if it poops whos gunna clean it up etc and I got birds and I really didnt want the birds that much but my sis did and I didnt take care of the birds that well...They also said that what about the shots food etc

Because It will soon be to expensive for the food and to visit the vet and things like that or because the think it smells

you should really try and tell them that you will the one who is responsible for the dog and ask them why they don't want to buy you a dog.

try to forget the dog you will say that you will be responsible but then you will be really tired just don't be stupid with your parents.
