is it legal for a 17yr old girl to rent a flat for her self to live in?

no its not. If your parents give the ok that you can you can. but who cares your 17 almost 18 you can do what you want.

Well, If you are going to rent a flat, make sure that you have enough deposit to make for your livings, plus how you are going to continue like this? I mean will you work somewhere? After sometime your deposits will end if you do not work to maintain your livings and bank account as well.

It looks like the age of majority in the UK is 18, so you wouldn't be able to "contract" with a landlord until you were 18. Your mother would have to contract for the flat and guarantee payments.

An alternative, if allowed in the UK is for you to become emancipated. That lowers your age of being able to contract and be considered an adult to govern your own actions. Usually, to become emancipated you have to demonstrate that you are employed and capable of managing your own affairs.

If the UK has a Social Services agency or Legal Aid organization, check with them to see if that is a possibility for you.

get a roomate that is 18.
have their name on the paperwork.
this would be best also becaseu that means that you wouldn't have to pay as much.
