How can I find my father for free?

I am 30 years old, I haven't seen my father in 8 years. I was told that he passed away, but I don't believe it. I need infromation on how to find my dad with no cost. I am desperate to find him. I have been trying for 2 years now. This is killing me, I...

just need to know where he is. Please help me. He has a beautiful 10 year old grandaughter that he's missing out on her life. I am also getting married next September. I would love for my father to walk me down the isle. Thank you

I think first you should verify that he is NOT dead -- a lot of counties have public databases on their websites now -- if so, you can search for record of his death. Or even if you think you know what county or city he lived/lives in you can search court records and see if anything recent comes up - like traffic infractions, etc...- that would verify that he is indeed still alive. Good luck! Ummm - none of my business, but I just have to ask - If he is indeed alive , are you sure a father like that is someone you want to bring into your daughter's life anyways? Sounds like he is not exactly the stable Grandpa type.
