Hi thedude!
I never had dogs growing up; my parents liked cats. But the minute I entered graduate school, my boyfriend and I rescued two dogs from a high-kill shelter. One, Maxine, is a terrier mix, and the other is a Chug! (A Chihuahua/Pug mix). They were both scheduled for euthanization. I like any dogs, but prefer mid-sized ones as opposed to small "purse" dogs or large breeds.
Growing up I had many dogs and many cats that came and went. Either they ran off, we had to give them away, they had a disease or were killed.
But through it all one pet remained and was always constant. I've had my furbaby since I was 6 years old. She's a Black Lab/retriever/collie mix although she looks remarkably close to Flat Coated Retrievers. She will be turning 17 next month. She's very old and has her share of problems but she still remains happy and healthy. (my mom wanted to put her down 5 years ago!) She loves to snuggle and is very affectionate. My husband and I absolutely adore her and when she does pass away we will be very saddened. She's the best dog I've ever had.

I had a chesapeake bay retriever growing up, what dog did you have?
Growing up, I had a Chesapeake Bay retriever for a few years. Great dog, however the sad thing was that we lived near a highway, so you can guess what eventually happened. Also, my dad had a really nice border collie mix dog that looked like Lassie, and...
was very smart & nice.
What kind of dog did you have growing up, if you had one?
