1. in the vaginal opening.

2. it doesn't "pop" it just tears when something is inserted, however it can tear even as a child by doing normal stuff such as horseback riding, gymnastics, or even stretching.

3. it's different for everyone.

Yes, it is just a thin membrane of skin covering your vaginal opening. Whether it hurts can depend on the age when it was ripped. I was ten so I didn't really have enough feeling there for it to hurt. I didn't know until a few hours later, I was just a little dizzy.

Your hymen is a thin, elastic membrane stretched partly or completely across the entrance of the vagina (vestibule). It varies in size, and thickness from woman to woman. Very rarely, it will be so thick and dense that it will require surgical removement or an incission. However it often gets ripped by playing sports, the use of tampons, mas*urbat*on, stretching and of course, sex. Some people find it hurts, some people don't. I personally don't think mine hurt but I can't even remember when it was ripped!
Hope this helped x
