How to train your siberian huskey

How do you train it when it is older to not bark are the basic tricks like-sit,stay and laydown I got the sit one down but not the other ones dont forget it ant a puppy anymore and I read you have to train it when it is just a baby so any sugggestions

Since you've got the 'sit' down pat...the 'DOWN' command can be easily taught by taking the leash, in one hand...a treat the other (this will also be your 'hand-signal' hand, a little later down the road...

Tell him 'sit', give him praise for his obedience...Now pull the leash STRAIGHT down...get on your knees if you have to...saying 'DOWN'...the second his elbows touch the ground...give him the treat. When you say DOWN, drag the word out, and actually lower your voice at the end of the word...it's a soft sounding word to animals...almost relaxing...it's the combination of the reward, the fact that YOU are on the ground, also...plus the soft word...Don't get me wrong, this is a command, so you use your commanding voice, but the phonics of DOWN is a soft sound. Once he's got the idea, use that treat hand for the 'signal'. Hand flat, palm down, push the air between you and the ground, and say DOWN...the visual seems to instill better in their heads.

Trying to teach a Husky not to bark or howl...even as pups, isn't easy...they're hard wired to 'communicate'...Husky's and Malamutes are closer to their roots...the wolf...than other breeds. Try giving him two or three 'free' barks, then put your finger to you lips, and do a loud 'SHHH...ENOUGH!!'...in your commanding voice. This is saying to him...'Ok, you've alerted me to possible danger, and now I'll take over as leader.' This one will take a while, but consistancy, patience, and calmness will win out...honest.

Walks,walks.walks! they need LOTS of excersize to keep from barking!

use a water bottle. when your dog barks spray him/her with water on the nose and say no. After just a few times he/she will catch on very fast.
