Look, I am Mormon and this is the best advise I have. I am not very good about it but I try my hardest. NEVER feel guilty about it, this does nothing. If you really feel guilty then you can repent, that won't anger God. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY never look back. This is advice straight from efy, the best program I have ever been to. Always think of how you can improve but never look back on what you did wrong all you want to do is better yourself not mope all day and feel like crap. This lesson applies to many things, I use it in my life all the time. I hope this helps
I don't think you should feel guilty about it. Its not supposed to be a duty or a job or even a requirement. This is something you're supposed to like doing. If you feel like you have an obligation to read your bible for whatever reason, then something is wrong, and you need to figure out what it is.
This is generally why I don't like organised religions, they sometimes (unintentionally) make you feel like you're sinning when you don't read your bible half the day or whatever.
So read it when you want to, not when you feel like you should. It should never be a chore.
I agree with rnealw, I have to have a steady diet of spiritual food, in order to keep myself together, spiritually. A daily tuneup, if you will. or fillup...
I look at it as high octane fuel, that keeps me going.
I look forward to morning devotionals, it starts my day out right, and energizes me.
I have a variety of spiritual books that I read, along with the bible, and that keeps it very interesting.
I do keep up on it. It is fun. As far as it being an obligation, I do feel it is an obligation and that there is nothing wrong with it. I have many obligations and all of them are as the word implies, self imposed. Obligations help me do the things I “should do” even when I don’t feel like doing them. People who fear obligations are looking for reasons “not” to do what they should do and are normally selfish when they should be selfless.
Answer this Question: "How often if at all do you keep up on your scriptures?"
