Life insurance can cost as little as $10 a month and as much as 150 a month or more, depending on whether you buy term or whole. Those are the two types. You don't insure whole families - you insure one person who is being depended upon for their income.
"Term" is the cheapest, and it gets renewed every 5 or 10 years or so, I think, and gets more expensive every time you renew, because you get older and sicker and the chances of you dying are increased. lol.
"Whole" is ore expensive to begin with, and stays the same but you generally only pay it for 10-12 years. then you get it all back (all the money you paid plus dividends) f you're still alive at 65. Its slightly more complex but not worth going into in detail here.
You can also get a combination of both types. Just ask an insurance saleperson. They sure would love to talk to you!
They would also tell you what type of coverage you'd need for a family of 6 left with no caregiver.
