it doesn't matter how long or thick the tube of mascara is, or how good it looks on, you MUST buy a new mascara every 3months, because the clumps of blackness on your mascara brush is the dead skin cells from eevery time you apply the mascara to your eye lashes, and it is layered at the bottom of the tube.
REMEMBER CHANGE YOUR MAKE UP EVERY 3 MONTHS
the same thing happens to me! luckily, I found a new one that seems to work better than all the rest, its the Cover Girl LashExact, it works wonders and doesn't seems to dry up easily. I think the finner the mascara brush is, the better it works. I had the Maybeline mascara but it dries up really fast. I would recommend the Cover Girl LashExact (its the purple one, it doesn't dry up as much and doesn't make your eyelashes look all clumpy and stuff!
omgd it lasts you a month ! lol it lasts me ages ! its so annoying I got loads of mascaras just lieing around everywhere !
if you are looking for a good mascara then you should buy maxfactor masterpeice and now there is even maxfactor masterpeice max and I have both ! they are so good they make you lashes really long and defined for £10 I am not sure how much they would be in america though... xx
I don't really wear mascara on a daily basis, only for formal occasions (I hate putting on make up, because I'm really lazy!), but I've had a tube of Mabelline Fresh Lash for almost 4 years now! I got it on my 18th birthday, and it's the only mascara I've owned besides some nasty purple stuff my sister bought me... she's sweet, but eeew...
Could be because you're pumping the wand in and out of the tube. I read an article that said doing this pushes air into the tube causing it to dry out. They said you should stir the wand, then pull it out. It works for me. Mine lasts about 2 months, it's Maybelline Great Lash waterproof mascara. It's cheap and works great for me!
Thanks to all who answered! I believe that my mascara should last me at least 1- 2 months, but I won't count on it!
Stellaapplemoor, I have heard of benefit cosmetics, I think I saw it on QVC (homeshopping... *hangs head in shame) is that one any good and how much?
92ily, good advice!
Octoberlover and Sassy007, I have never been very fond of covergirl, but I may give the lash exact a try, thanks!
Jess563029, I don't pump my mascara, I know that is like the "golden rule", lol!
Dilz, I have tried a couple of the Maxfactor and liked the way they made my lashes look, but I have never seen the "Masterpiece" one... sounds good, I might try it, thanks!
Plainwhitets, that humidifier idea sounds good, I might try it! Thanks!
To everyone who said that they have had their mascara for more than 4 months, please THROW IT AWAY
old mascara can cause styes and pink eye!

How long does your tube of mascara last?
How long does a tube of mascara last you? Mine lasts less than a month and then it becomes dry and flaky, so I buy a new one! I do admit that I put a couple of coats on, but I always try to close the lid tight and take care of it so it will last...
longer! Right now I am using "Neutrogena Full Volume" ($7, NOT waterproof!) and I like it, but I'm still having the same problem! I have tried a couple of expensive mascaras (Merle Norman ($12), Bare Escentuals($15) but that has not helped! Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
