How early can I get my puppy tested for parvo?

I have a very healthy 4 month puppy. Someone brought over his seemily healthy sister. I went and I brought home their first sets of shots and when I came home the other puppy started showing signs of parvo. It progressed very quickly and lost about 6...

pounds in a few hours and it progressed even more to pooping "buckets of blood" and puking bile. The person didnt have the money to pay for the vet bills so we put her to sleep. my dog obviously made lots of contact with the infected pup. I need to know how soon I can get a parvo test run on him to catch it at the first stage. I know I wish the breeders did their part and give them their shots after they were weaned from the mother. After seeing what my pups sister went through, I couldnt bear to watch that happen to my darling.

u cant actualy get your puppy checked for parvo, but you can get him/her vaccinated from it up to 6-8weeks

How long agao was it that your pup was exposed? How old was your pup when you gave him his shots?...did you give it a shot only AFTER it was exposed??

Let's just say, that parvo is about as contagious as a virus can get...so the chances are high, if your pup wasn't vaccinated BEFORE this other pup played with it, it's going to get it. I'd get the pup into the vet NOW...tell him what happened...and see what he says.

Dont wait!!! Call your vet and make that appt now. Its highly contagious and hopefully you are keeping your puppy indoors. you should take her to get a full check up and all the necessary shots that are required. This is so important. Tell the vet everything that happened. Also, my puppy was given her fist parvo shot in Feb 07. She was born Dec 31st, 06. She was very young but I've kept up w/all vaccinations as required. you have to keep up w/vacs and whatever else to insure your pup is healthy and strong.
