How do I get rid of black hair dye?

I've dyed my hair permanently black and it's been on my hair for 2 years now. I've tried dying over it with lighter colours throughout the years but nothing seems to shift it.
How do I get rid of it? Because I'd like to dye my hair auburn or red in the near future.

Hair dresser. they can put special highlights in your hair that can turn it chessnut, which you can dye over, or whatever. It is costly though, and can take a long time cause they may need to keep repeating it

it sounds like your hair was originly black because no hair dye stay's in that long because your hair grows

well of course coloring it lighter hasn't helped because color doesnt lift color. the only thing you can do is have your hair prelightened and then colored with the color of your choice. this can be damaging if you don't take care and use good hair products and get a trim regularly

DO NOT BLEACH OR PEROXIDE!!! color oops at walgreens got the black out of my light brown hair in 20 minutes!!! its only about 12 bucks and it works AMAZING!! I had permanent black dye in my hair for about 4 months and it returned my hair to light golden brown without damaging it!!! try this stuff first but follow the directions and leave it in for the full 2o minutes!!!
