How is homosexuality a sin?

can someone please give me a legitimate reason on how homosexuality is a sin because it pisses me off when people mistreat them I want to know how is that a sin because it really dont seem wrong because those people were just born like that but I know a lot of people would beg 2 differ I want to yalls words

PS...I'm Christian, but was taught to "not believe EVERYTHING I read"...Scientists have already found a genetic anomolie in homosexuals that doesn't exist in hetrosexuals...Most of the gay people I know, KNEW there was something different about them by the time they were 7 or 8 years old...NOBODY...hetro or homosexual makes sexual "choices" before they even get hormones!!

The laughable part...or actually, the sad part about calling it a "choice"...is that hundreds of thousands of homosexuals TRY to fake hetrosexual relationships...Why? Because if they had a CHOICE...they'd rather be what other people call "normal"...

Are you a Christian? If you are then you probably read the Bible? In there it talks about that lifestyle as an abomination unto the Lord...and ENORMOUS SIN. Here, let me put it up for you:

Romans 1:26-27, NIV. "Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion." (Aids? )

Is practicing homosexuality a sin? It's in the Bible, Leviticus 18:22, TLB. "Homosexuality is absolutely forbidden, for it is an enormous sin."

You see, the Lord does not make sin and the homoseuxal lifestyle is an "enormous" sin. It is a choice, they are not born that way, no matter what they say, they were not born that way, they've chosen to do it by choice, which goes against God.

Can a practicing homosexual go to heaven? I Corinthians 6:9, "Don't you know that those doing such things have no share in the Kingdom of God? Don't fool yourselves. Those who live immoral lives, who are idol worshippers, adulterers or homosexuals—will have no share in his kingdom."

Practicing homosexuals are called to repent. I Timothy 1:10-11, "Yes, these laws are made to identify as sinners all who are immoral and impure: homosexuals, kidnappers, liars, and all others who do things that contradict the glorious Good News of our blessed God, whose messenger I am."

Leviticus 18:22: You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.
Romans 1:26-27: "For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence [sic] of their error which was meet."

As for people being born like that, there's two arguments used by religious zealots:
1. They are not born like that (technically science hasnt actually proven a gene that causes homosexuality)
2. God is testing them/It is simply something they have to resist...

You used the word "Sin" so you're going to get religious answers...
If you want to know how else it is wrong beyond the realm of religion, well honestly I dont know what argument they could possibly come up with

I can't give you a "legitamite reason", because I haven't never seen it as a "sin", either...People forget that the Bible was written by men...not God...so let's let'em off easy, and say fear and ignorance is why it's considered a sin. Afterall, even Indian tribes recognized homosexuality as an anomolie from birth, and designated lighter duty to those who were homosexual...like they weren't warriors...but did labor in the camp, that the women could not do.

When people think of it as a "sin"...they are only taking in the sexual aspect, and come up with "kink" (god knows, just saying the word "sex" is a sin to some people)...They don't get it, that sex is just a part of the whole relationship...no different than hetrosexual...that a homosexual couple are partners, lovers, and friends...living within the same range of good times and bad as ANY couple...

Hopefully, someday, ignorance won't reign...it'll never go away, but common sense might just be around the next corner.

I believe there are MANY many many parts of the Bible that "Christians" don't follow. They pick and choose what to believe from the Bible, and often, gives them an excuse to hate.

If you don't go by what the bible explains is abomination then okay you believe how you want. If you ask a question people are going to be honest and you wont like it. The way it was explained to me is that man and woman are like pieces of a puzzle. Two men won't complete it nor will two women. This is why our body parts were made different. We are to pro-create with them is the intention of our Lord. If you can't stop from being homosexual then you can suffer any consequences. The Christian faith is not against homosexuals but the act they commit.

it is wrong to be gay becuase that is different. people back in the old days hated anything that was out of the ordinary or the norm. it seems like christians just decided to pick and choose what they want to belive in. cuase really the bible says that it is ok to have saves and to give sacrifces but yet thats frowned upon and made illegal. thats one good thing about canada we are a lot more tolerant towrds other people that the united states.

Are there any rational reasons to condemn homosexuality? No. The reasons are irrational and rooted in a crass us/them instinct.

It goes completely against Gods design. He created a man and a woman., Anything else, is Satanic in origin. People are not born that way, they are possessed of spirits that convince them they are. They offer them no hope of change, but, the bible, is clear, demon spirits are real, and they inhabit humans. That does not mean that anyone has the right to mistreat them, quiet the contrary, God says to love them. If we don't then we sin.

We are to tell them the truth, in love, and also, tell them, that they can be delivered. They were not born that way. The bible talks about familar spirits, that are passed down thru the bloodlines. This can be broken, thru the power of Jesus Christ. they can live normal lives. they can be set free... this is just one more sin... there are many. However, the bible says that this one is an abomination, because one sins against his own body.

here are just a few things that I think:

heterosexuality is just...God's plan. that's what He wants. the first people that god created...he created man and woman. he also gave the commandment to "mutiply and replenish the earth". how are two men or two women to accomplish that? just something to think about.

also, there are christians that are gay. in my religion, we do not put them down, ridicule, or judge them, but yes, we view homosexuality as being a very serious sin. gay people can believe in Jesus Christ, and I believe that makes them Christian, no? whether or not they are following all of the commandments, if they believe in J.C., they are christian.

I believe in the bible as far as it is translated correctly...meaning: God commanded prophets (such as Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses...etc.) to write the bible. to record the history of their people. I believe that today, our bible is a version of what was originally written. things have been taken out and lost in translation. which is sad, but true. that's why I use the ing James version rather than a more current revision.

anyways, those are just some thoughts I had.

Samurai, the New Testament does not have anything forbidding homosexuality. The Torah does, yes, but not the NT. In Romans 1:26-27, if you actually read the entire passage, Paul seems to be comdemning homosexual behavior, but his point is that no person is free from sinful behavior, and no matter what someone is doing, you have no right to judge them. Therefore, it says the opposite of what people like orion think it does. And even more important, it’s not even clear that Paul is forbidding ANY homosexual behavior, or just general sexual lust and immorality, to include same-sex lust…same-sex LOVE is not discussed at ALL in the NT.

Which brings us to the other verses, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10. Again, Paul does not actually use the common Greek word for homosexuals. He uses the term arsenokoitēs, which does not translate as homosexuals in the modern sense. In fact, it’s rarely used by anyone of the period. You have to realize, they didn’t look at homosexual vs. heterosexual the way we do today. So this term used by Paul is not a blanket term for homosexuals. It’s not clear what it means, but more likely it refers to male prostitutes, and the connotation is that it refers to sexually immoral behavior, in other words lust, not love. So again, we have Paul referring to someone who is having sex just for fun rather than inside the boundaries of love and marriage.

So I say for the umpteenth time, there is NOTHING forbidding homosexual marriage, love, or behavior in the New Testament. Learn your Bibles, fundies, and stop spreading ignorance and hate.

for one that was in the old testament. you must realize that this was a Jewish law, for Israel to follow. or maybe it doesn't have to be taken literally, maybe if you look deeper, it just means that if your son is rebellious, you must correct him as a parent(to purge the evil from him).
or when Jesus came, he said that some of the laws changed, such as, being allowed to eat pork, Eating of pork is one of the more well known laws, in the New Testrament, Jesus says it's okay to it. I'm not sure, but I don't think they literally stoned their children for being disobedient, maybe the Pharisees did, but they were false prophets.

to answer the original Q, I'm a christian, but I do think that liking of the same sex, is a sin. but, if I were a preacher, I would let that person come to church. yes, I think it's kind of gross, especially if it's physical liking of the same sex, but every one can be saved. but if they are christians, and they know that it is wrong, and they do it, then it is a sin.

the Bible was written by men, but through inspiration from God, they knew what to write.

let me start by saying that I do not believe in a "higher power" but I was raised in the jewish faith.
I don't believe that homosexuality is a sin. but I do know this... calling someone an "abomination", "satanic", "perverted" and an"enormous sinner" is horrible and if the person saying it is christian they are not a good witness.

”Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measurement ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
