Hip piercing is like any other surface piercing that is prone to migration and/or rejection. It's especially in a high movement area (when you stretch, wear clothes, jeans rubbing onto it, etc) that will cause it to migrate (ejecting itself out of the skin or moving higher/lower in your skin to a less high movement area which can lead to scarring).

Surface piercings are at best better off being a temporary piercing, unless you can find an area where you will less likely accidentally catch it on something, getting it rubbed on because of movement and/or clothing, and other things that can also cause inflammation and infection.
