Hi iheartmusic,
I'm the same way. Honestly. The way I handle it is I don't allow myself to go online for fun or do anything else, but I use it as rewards. If I finish 2 pages of my paper, I can go online for an hour. If I clean my room, I can watch a TV show I like. It works because I get things done, plus I also get to enjoy myself.
This site has some tips, too. Good luck!!
Dear iheartmusic,
If you really want to change you can give yourself a time limit on the computer. Set up a timer to ring in 1/2 hour. Then get off the computer and do 1/2 hour of work (set timer again)...either school work, clean room, make your lunch etc. After 1/2 hour go back to the computer for 1/2 hour repeat above. Do this for a month then increase the time off the computer by 1/2 hour each month. Do not increase computer time though. So it will be something like this 1/2 hour computer, 1/2 hour off (first month) 1/2 hour computer, 1 hour off (second month) 1/2 hour computer (1 1/2 hours off). This would be the way to slowly stop procrastinating. If you want a quick fix...no computer at all till all the work is done at home and with your school work. This takes a huge amount of discipline and not for the faint of heart LOL.
Sue...good luck
I'm a procrastinator as well.
The thing I intellectually know is that it is much easier and better if I just take care of the task I keep putting off. If I take the time to take care of it I can ease my mind and enjoy the rest of my time. Knowing what to do and doing it are not the same thing though.
The technique I use is to be my own coach. I look at my evening and ask myself if I was telling someone else what to do what would I make them do first? Whatever that is I do first.
For procrastinators the hardest part of any job is starting it. Once you get rolling you will find that it really wasn't that bad and you will wonder what the big deal was.

How can I manage my time better?
I am a 100% procrastinator. I get home from school and plop in front of the computer and talk to my friends or surf Youtube and Myspace for literally hours. My room is a mess and since I waste time on the computer I never have time left to do my homework...
and before I realize it, it's time to go to bed.. yes I have a bedtime..lol. I would greatly appreciate it if you would give me advice on how to manage my time or just give me links to good sites. I really do want help. I'm just too lazy to do my homework or study. Please help and thanks so much
