Dear rizzosmith,
Daily smokers are usually addicts...the catch phrase in your question was I don't plan on smoking again (maybe ever) it's MAYBE so you know you have trouble...you need some help to stop. Go to narcotics anonymous there they will give you some wonderful skills to beat this. THC stores in the fat cells...so a daily smoker would take a fair amount of time to rid the body of this. It is hard to predict how long as it depends on body weight and the amount smoked. If you truly want to stop see help and NA is a wonderful place to start.
Sue...good luck,

Sue90 is right. You probably won't quit for good if you don't get involved in a 12-step program like MA (marijuana anonymous). If you are an addict you absolutely won't quit, the most you will do is stop for a while or substitute something else.
You can get their number through AA.
The good news for you is that if you have experienced any bad side effects from 10 years of pot, they are reversible. (e.g. paranoia, memory loss, sleeplessness, sexual dysfunction, etc.)

I smoked for over ten years...gave up 8+ weeks ago without any help, it's not that hard...call me an addict or whatever, but it was more of a bad habit than an addiction...I'm not suffering withdrawals!!! It took about 5-6 weeks to clear my system.
And I have never experienced any paranoia, memory loss, sleeplessness or sexual dysfunction.
Just drink plenty of water over the next few weeks, the more you p*ss...the sooner your body will be able to naturally flush your system...also avoid too much fatty foods. Time will tell.

While I appreciate all the thoughtfull concern about any possible addiction, quite a few poeple seem to have missed the primary concern of my posting. The reason I
have posted on this site (I thought) is fairly clear in the question "How do I detox THC
from my system ?" I am not having a problem with a desire to continue smoking pot.
If the urge to start up again comes over me, believe me, I'm not too proud to seek
help. Only one person has, so far, addressed the question I asked (legion). Again,
I really am gratefull for poeples concern - for a complete stranger, no less - but it is
not an answer to my question. I hope that I haven't come-off as bitter, I only wanted
to add this to steer any future responses back towards my issue. Thank you.
