Legally adult from uk to us?

Thunder Robot Asked by funadvice 5 months ago, 5 answers.

In the UK you are legally an 'adult' at the age of 16 and are not required to complete grades 11, 12 or 13 because they are considered college levels, sort of. I am wondering if I move to the USA when I am 17, and I'm done with school, completed all...

required grades, would I still have to be living with a guardian until im 18?

I believe so. In the United States you have to live with your gaurding until you are 18 or you can file for an 'amasupation' (check spelling on that) but it is when minor can prove to a court that they CAN take care of them selves finacially and morally w/o an adult.

Even if you have completed all your school grades and are considered an adult else where you would still need to live with a parent or gaurdian untill yor 18 here. But you should move here! lol :] I love my country

hmm no not exactly... I moved here when I was 17, didnt have to live with a guardian, BUT, this was with parental consent...
also I couldnt sign anything, enter into contracts etc... which means if you're not doing this with parental permission you're going to have it tough... you cant sign a lease, cant get credit cards, etc etc...
