What should I get my son for his birthday?

What should I get for my son for his 9th birthday? He lives with his dad and I hear that he is failing the 3rd grade, he plays his gaming system and he likes to skateboard, but I think that he needs educational toys. I just do not know what to get him....

Please help me think of some ideas.

Ok, but do you have any ideas for educational games for gamecube? I heard that they had stopped coming out with games for that particular system? I do not know these games from a hole in my head???

yeah, the gamecube is...pretty much down the tubes. 5 games max at any given store, none of them new. I just had to upgrade to a wii, so that game system is beyond dead. does he have a nintendo DS? those have a lot of educational games...

Yea or even get him someting like an educationl board game. The best bet is looking at EB games. they might have a gamecube game but it will be a select few since thats anold system thats obsolete

If he's failing, just maybe cutting back on the gaming/skateboard time might be in order so he can concentrate on his education/future.

I agree with you amblessed, that is kinda what I was looking for on the answers. I am just wondering what I could get him for his birthday that is educational, yet still fun? I have checked out several websites and I have come up with nothing...

How about a telescope?

They have some nice ones at walmart (maybe you can catch the clearanced ones... they were over a $100 now they're only $25)

I got a nice one on clearance for $25. You can take telescopic pictures and upload them via a USB. pretty cool.
