Who pays on a date, the girl or the guy?

when you go out on a date or just to dinner, does the girl or guy pay? and who is supposed to pay?

Hmm it is complicated today, a long time ago it was simple... the guy paid.
I've heard it's the person who does the asking who pays?
Usually I just split it... If it's dinner and a movie, one person pays for movie (and popcorn etc), the other pays for dinner...
I think it depends on your particular situation...

I'd say guy but I dont know why (thats not meant to rhyme)I just see it on t.v but I'd split it like ty said its easier

Usually if your going out as friends you split it but if it's a romantic kind of date then the guy, preferably, but it's not set in stone. Gentlemenness is always quite a turn-on. lol

I honestly could care less about who pays. I mean, either way - Someone's paying. A guy on the first date would be sweet and a few times randomly after that, but letting him do it all the time, just isn't a way I would go with. I'd say split it half. Easier for everyone. ^___^

whoever did the asking pays
so if the guy asked you, then he pays
if you ask the guy then you pay
or just go Dutch

like missxdona has said, having a guy pay on the first date is always sweet, and a good way to start the relationship!! but it's also rude to have the guy always paying when the two of you go out. my boyfriend and I normally take turns treating eachother or sometimes we pay halves =)

at first the guy should pay...its a way to start off a good relationship...as time goes on maybe give the guy a break and go half...but to answer your question...first date = guy should always pay..its just the right way to do things..hope this helps!
