Well, I suggest you get an instructor. You should be able to read notes and be familiar with the notes on the guitar, but as they say, knowing three chords is knowing 1000 songs! Best of luck to you!

Well, it would seem your priorities are a tad... out of order. Starting a band should NOT even be in your mind, until you have at least a relative competence on the axe.

Learn. Practice. Repeat.

Guitar is fairly easy to learn. And it's a lot of fun. Starting a band is something an accomplished musician thinks about. You are putting the cart before the horse.

ok first learn what a power cord is. You have to have your guitar in tune if you ae going to sound right the go E (fatest) A D G B E(skinny) fatest to skinny. Then learn a A power cord which is used in a lot of musick. lern that then learn a minor pentonic scale (ignore the half steps) play the scale up and down. this scale is also a blues scale. in tab it looks like this

---5-8-
---5-8---
--2---5-7---
--2 This is a A power cord then---5-7---
--0---5-7---
---5-8---

pratice up and down good for free styleing
All rock and Metal use this scale and cord
(hint) Hit the power cord then go up the scale and down the scale then hit the power cord again.
Tab ( the bottem line is the fat string the top line is the skinny)
