God NOT JUST THE CHRSTIAN ONE!
Can I call God it. I mean think about it
not all gods in all religions are male or even human so would calling it, it be a reasonable term to use?

I don't think it would be respectful, as one should be.

Like amblessed said, doesnt seem to be too respectful considering we usually use it for inanimate objects, plants, and animals that aren't too complex...

Considering what most people think of God nowdays... what difference does it make what you call him???

People are working overtime, trying to make the vilest videos ever... attempting to destroy every vestige of God, trying to remove every mention of him, and trying to degrade him in the worst way...

I usually just use the plural form 'gods'. It's nondiscriminatory to the female deities, as well as Pat.

I believe it is disrespectful to Him. God should be held in high esteem not insulted by being called and "it"

The people of today don't much care about God it seems, by the way Christians are being attacked everywhere (verbally and physically), the Ten Commandments being ordered taken down. Bibles are not allowed in school, but false theories are.

We are indeed living in the last days.

good for you lish54
but accusing me of not knowing anything just because I dont beleive in anything
shallow
the reason why christians, ect have a bad name is because they dont accept ANYONE else for who they are, unless they want to be "saved"
if there ever was a god, know one can prove that he is male, or that she is female
or even it it is in fact human
open your mind

In a way it kind of does seem disrespecful,
I don't belive in any Gods, maybe a Goddess.

I don't think I believe in any gods or goddesses(I know, contriditction, but it's rather hard to exaplin so just go with it) so I just call 'em higher deities.
Gos & Goddess to me seems to man made if you know what I mean.
But it all depends on the person.
If it feels right calling the higher deities it then go right ahead 1_~

It is only disrespectful if you believe. But then you get zealots like Orion, who are completely clueless about non-believers views. To me it is direspectful to have the religious iconography displayed in public buildings. We are secular nation, whether the zealots want to admit it or not.

If you don't want non-believers to call god an IT, then stop trying to shove your superstition down our throats.

Why do you think a person would say something disrespectful to another about something/someone they love? It is because they don't respect that person or their beliefs and they really don't care how that person may feel. This is a verbal attack.

jimahl, you said "it is only disrespectful if you believe" So, I guess if you don't believe it's ok to trash the person's belief? Where is your respect for others?

Respecting others, even if you disagree, is an asset and considered an honorable and noble character.

Where is your respect for my belief, or the belief of other atheists, when you advocate for erecting religious iconography in public buildings with taxpayer money? How does that respect my beliefs?

What if I said that I worship Darwin, and any criticism of Darwin or evolution is disrespectful. Should I expect you never to say anything disrespectful about darwin or evolution?

You are expecting others to have the same reverence for your god as you do. Get over it.

"Respecting others, even if you disagree, is an asset and considered an honorable and noble character."

Orion - That must be one of the funniest statements I have seen on this site.

There are Christians that show love and respect for others, you are NOT one of them...

Jimahl is correct, you show no respect for any belief other than your own.

and as far as calling god "it" ...
who cares...
there are starving children, abuse, horrible injustice in the world...
I would be MORE offended by the knowledge of an abused child...
just as you should be...
